The Mar Menor is just a considerable salt water lake. The maximum depth is plainly over 6 meters, with an average depth of 3.5 meters throughout. Although out of depth for paddlers, this helps to permit the sun to heat up the patch of water more than the deeper Mediterranean Sea.
The Mar Menor, and in some the mud on certain beaches, is reputed to have health giving qualities and for this reason scores of visitors and locals alike will visit the beaches, cover themselves in this mud and try for themselves to see if it does indeed rejuvenate the skin.
Having access to two different seas, it would come for the reason that no surprise that water sports take a chief role in the activities on offer. Sailing, deep sea fishing, kayaking, surfing, swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, kite-surfing and windsurfing are all available to those who wish to try them out.

There are three different 18 hole championship courses in the region offering year round playing for golfing enthusiasts. There are also smaller courses, down to the pitch and putt, for those who don’t want such a difficult challenge.
